There are five towns in Northern Colorado that are the focus of the ACLU of Colorado concerning current laws or ordinances with panhandling. The ACLU has won this before.
We've all been approached in a parking lot before by someone claiming that they had fallen on hard times and needed a few bucks.
Maybe they needed gas for the car or a couple bucks to catch the bus. Sometimes you cough up a few bucks.
But don't you always wonder if the person was telling the truth or not?
I am a big supporter of giving a homeless dude a a few quarters to help him get drunk or buy a hooker, but I have to admit it has gotten kind of out of control in Fort Collins. I was walking through Old Town the other night, and I had to have been hit up at least twenty times in a couple hours. Now, there are some new stricter rules on panhandling in Laramer County.
