It seems like it was just last week that Rockies fans and the baseball community in general was buzzing about Jamie Moyer, 49, becoming the oldest pitcher in the history of Major League Baseball (MLB) to win a game. That buzz was short lived as the Colorado Rockies have officially released Moyer.

In a game on Tuesday night, Rockies’  pitcher Jamie Moyer, 49, became the oldest major league pitcher to earn a win. ”It’s a great night for the Rockies, as far as winning a baseball game. But it’s an historic night for one tremendous human being,” Rockies manager Jim Tracy said after the game.

49-year old left-hander Jamie Moyer became the oldest pitcher in major league history to earn a win last night, throwing seven innings en route to a Colorado Rockies (5-6) 5-3 win over the San Diego Padres (3-9). The two teams face off again tonight at 6:40 at Coors Field in the final game of the series. (TV: Root Sports.)
