According to the CDC the "kissing bug", named that because it tends to bite people around their mouth, but scientifically called the triatomine bug, "can carry Trypanosoma cruzi, the parasite that causes Chagas disease...
Colorado adopted its official state insect on April 17, 1996. It can be found on both sides of the Continental Divide at elevations of 6,500 to 7,500 feet.
