Colorado Avalanche

Patrick Roy is one of the most beloved sports figures in the history of Colorado sports, and he continues to build on his legacy as he is now in his first season as Colorado Avalanche head coach. But real Av's fans know that Patty wasn't just a great goaltender, he was also quite the hot-head. His son Frederick appears to have taken after pops with both hockey skills, and a mean tamper!

You may call it a poor excuse, but ever since the NHL had their last couple of lockouts I have really lost all interest in the sport. I can't name five players in the league, the games seem to often come down to a team getting a lucky bounce to win, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of intensity. It seems as though at least that last part has changed with a new coach on the bench for the Colorado

Just because they're a whole bunch of dudes who don't like to shave, with no teeth, running into each other and even fighting, it doesn't mean hockey players don't have big hearts. And although I am not the biggest hockey fan in the world, I have found myself a new favorite player. Not because of what he has done for the Colorado Avalanche, but what he did off the ice.

I was never really in to hockey when I was young, but then the Colorado Avalanche moved to Denver and Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Patrick Roy, and others all became household names. (After we all learned how to properly pronounce Roy's last name, of course.) And now Patrick Roy is back with Colorado as their new head couch and vice president of hockey operations.

It still hurts to talk about what happened to the Denver Broncos on Saturday evening. The only thing that will make the sting go away is having them back on the field at the end of next summer. Until then we can sit and wonder why they lost, what they could have done different, and sulk, or we can root for the other hometown teams.
