SWMRS Cancel Tour After Van Accident Injures Guitarist

It's that time of year where traveling can get treacherous for touring bands and SWMRS just became the first victim of a weather-related incident. The group revealed that on the drive from Oakland to Denver, guitarist Max Becker and two members of his traveling party hit a patch of black ice, causing them to lose control of their van. All three were transported to a nearby hospital in Wyoming for treatment and Becker sustained an undisclosed injury that will need recovery time.

As a result, the group is calling off the remaining dates on their current tour. A statement on the matter can be read below:

We regret to inform you that last night on the drive from Oakland to Denver, Max, Josh and Natalie encountered black ice on the road, causing them to lose control of the van. Thankfully, first responders were able to quickly get them to an incredible team of doctors in the intensive care unit at a hospital in Wyoming and everyone is going to be ok.
As a result, we are going to cancel all of our shows for the rest of 2019 to give them the time they need to recover.
Our brother Max is the strongest person in the world. He is our fearless leader. It's going to be a long road to recovery, but we all know that if anyone can do it, Max can. We love you. Share some love with the people around you, and send all of your positive energy to Max, Josh and Natalie.

Becker is joined in SWMRS by his brother and lead singer Cole Becker, drummer Joey Armstrong and bassist Seb Mueller. The group issued their latest album, Berkeley's On Fire, back in February and we're out supporting the release.

UPDATE: SWMRS have issued an update on Max Becker and the two touring crew members that were involved in the recent van accident. According to the post, Becker remains in the ICU, but has spoken and is aware he has a long road of rehab ahead of him. Read the band's full statement below:
