The victim identified as 21-year-old Helene Pruszynski was raped and murdered nearly 40 years ago.

Her body was found on January 16, 1980, in a field on Daniels Park Road located in Douglas County.

For 39 years the murderer has been on the loose and her family has awaited closure.

According to CBS Denver, Douglas County Sheriff's Office has announced that a suspect in the cold case has been arrested.

Investigators have used genetic genealogy to link James Curtis Clanton, 62, to the crime. Clanton is currently facing five charges and will be in court Monday afternoon.
