The oldest restaurant in Fort Collins posted on their website Tuesday (June 30) that due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19, they'll be closed until further notice.

The Silver Grill Cafe had an employee wake with a cough and fever on June 22, 2020. Five days later, after receiving notice that they had tested positive for the coronavirus, the employee notified the restaurant.

From the Silver Grill Cafe website:

  1. Health Department officials confirmed that although the employee didn’t show symptoms, they likely were contagious during their last work shifts at Silver Grill on June 19th, 20th, and 21st.

2. We immediately informed all employees and asked them to quarantine until the Health Department gives each the ok to return to work.

3. We told employees to get tested if they develop symptoms or are worried about exposure.

4. Officials also confirmed we have taken all appropriate actions since learning of the positive COVID-19 result.

Although not mandated by the County, we have temporarily closed dine-in, takeout, and curbside services until our employee quarantine is over.

We will promptly inform you when we reopen.

Silver Grill is advising that any of those who visited the restaurant on June 19, 20, or 21, and develop any COVID-19 symptoms should get tested right away.

The Larimer Health Department feels that guests were at low-risk, due to what would only have been a brief encounter with the employe, who had been wearing a mask. Those who feel symptomatic should visit https://www.larimer.org/covid-19-testing

Silver Grill Cafe is not only The Choice City's oldest restaurant but one its most beloved. Hopefully, they'll be open again very soon.
