To be honest, I didn't even know that Montrose had a candy factory. That's of little consequence, of course, to the hundreds of people who are soon out of a job.

Montrose is a great place to visit if you ever get the chance. I've been there a couple of times, but never knew that they currently have one of the four plants that Russell Stover has in the U.S.

According to Denver7, the company is 'wrapping' up that facility in the spring of 2021, where roughly 400-600 people are employed either full-time or part-time.

They'll be shifting operations to their three other plants, two are in Kansas and one is in Texas.

The employees that are eligible will be offered employment within the company, elsewhere, or given severance.

Not only did I not know Montrose had a Russell Stover factory, but I was also not aware that they got their start in Denver, back in 1923. They opened the Montrose plant 50 years later, in 1973.
