Rocky Mountain National Park Re-Opens on Wednesday

Get your hiking boots ready, because Rocky Mountain National Park is beginning their 'phased reopening' on Wednesday, May 27.

A press release from the park states that basic park road and trail access will resume. Services will limited and visitor centers will remain closed.

Other details shared by the park:

• Bear Lake shuttles will resume but capped at 15 passengers per trip.
• Trail Ridge Road will be open to Rainbow Curve on the east side and Colorado River Trailhead on the west side.
• Wild Basin area will remain closed to all public access during this initial phase.
• Fall River Road will be not be open to motorized vehicles during this phase, but will open to bicyclists and pedestrians.
• Moraine Park and Glacier Basin Campgrounds will be partially open on June 4, with about half of the campsites available for reservations. Aspenglen, Timber Creek and Longs Peak Campgrounds will remain closed.

Rocky Mountain National Park had more than 4.6 million visitors last year, including about 1 million last July.

Local shops that rely on Rocky Mountain National Park tourism have been preparing for the re-opening over the past two weeks, but as you make your way through Estes Park, expect to see a strict indoor and outdoor mask-wearing policy as reported by CBS4 Denver.
