Having consistent and reliable pitching has been one of the Rockies' biggest weaknesses the last few seasons, leading to many frustrating endings and blown games.

With these pitching woes possibly creeping into the upcoming season, it appears they are even willing to give former Rockies' ace, Ubaldo Jiménez another shot at things, even though he hasn't pitched in the league since 2017. It was announced on February 5, that the club signed the 36-year-old to a minor league deal, and have invited him to spring training in Arizona.

Jiménez was first called up to the MLB in 2006, and played for the Rockies until 2011 when he was then traded to Cleveland. While with Colorado, he threw the team's only no-hitter in franchise history. Throughout his career the Rockies, Cleveland and Baltimore, he produced pretty solid numbers with several strong seasons. Since leaving the MLB in 2017, Jiménez  went on to play in the Dominican Winter League, where he threw good enough numbers for the Rockies to take interest in bringing him back.

It's unknown yet if the former pitcher will regain a role on the Rockies roster, but weighing in things like the fact that he already feels comfortable pitching with the altitude at Coors Field, it seems like he could definitely be an asset to add in to the rotation.
