Never forget.

That's the motto of The American Legion, Post 2000, who is hosting Loveland Remembers 9/11 on Wednesday (September 11) at 7 p.m. in Foote Lagoon Amphitheater.

The event, organized by the Legion's 9/11 Chairman Tony Abbott, will be a night of remembrance, music, presentation, and a final salute to those who died on 9/11.

The American Legion, which is the largest veteran organization in America, has been around for 100 years. It provides solace and camaraderie to veterans like Abbott, who served in the army for four years.

Like many Americans, the anniversary of 9/11 is close to Abbott's heart.

"I was on the fire department when September 11th happened,"  Abbott said. "It was very emotional. We just don't want anybody to forget."

The event, which is open to everyone, will have multiple speakers and serves as a healing place for those who attend. The most important thing to remember is to arrive at 7 p.m. sharp, or earlier.

"Don't be late," Abbott said with a laugh. "It's that old army thing."

Jokes aside, the event is a beautiful tribute to the victims of 9/11. The ceremony will finish with a bagpipe rendition of "Amazing Grace." Abbott finds the song particularly emotional.

"There's not a dry eye in the house," he said.
