Exciting changes and new additions are abloom at the Gardens on Spring Creek, including a permanent butterfly house that's set to open to the public in 2019. Once complete, nearly 400 free-flying North American butterflies will be housed in the 1,700 square foot conservatory, accompanied with thousands of beautiful flowers. The City of Fort Collins and Westminster's Butterfly Pavilion have partnered up with the Gardens on Spring Creek to build the city's first permanent butterfly house, which will eventually be jointly operated by the two latter groups listed above. President and CEO of the Butterfly Pavilion, Patrick Tennyson, said this about the upcoming project, "Butterfly Pavilion creates one of a kind, irreplaceable experiences for our visitors. We are thrilled to be expanding our efforts in Northern Colorado with Gardens on Spring Creek."

Besides the butterfly house, the Gardens are also getting a brand new visitor center, which will feature a year-round green space that will act as a conservatory, an expanded community meeting room, offices, and a larger visitor-friendly lobby. The overall cost of the project is $3 million, and of this total, $1 million remains to be raised. Construction on the butterfly house is expected to begin sometime next year, and we can't wait to see the metamorphosis once it's completely finished.

The Gardens on Spring Creek are located at 2145 Centre Avenue in Fort Collins.
