The Lolos aren't from Northern Colorado, but they like their beers in hand, and hanging around Hodi's and the Mishawaka Amphitheater, so we think we'll keep them. They'll be competing in this Saturday's battle-of-the-bands, BandSmash, in Loveland.

While the folksy west coast trio was en route to the front range (we imagine probably somewhere in the Mojave), they dialed into the studio and chatted with me about their upcoming gigs in Northern Colorado.

In the band's YouTube series, 'Songs from the Stairs,' they use their practice space's stairwell, and a round of rock-paper-scissors, to pay tribute to their favorites. On Saturday, the band will be performing cover songs from a band they say is 'an underground group from Liverpool, from the 60s and 70s' while at BandSmash. We can all take a guess at who that may be.

On August 31, The Lolos will be playing a show with their original music at the Downtown Artery in Fort Collins.

The Lolos' interview will air just after 1:30 p.m. (MST) on Wednesday, August 26.

BandSmash 2015 will be at the Chapungu Sculpture Park in Loveland on Saturday, August 29. The Lolos will be up against Aspen HourglassCool Hand Juke and Cable Ten.

The Loveland Mountain View Rotary Club’s BandSmash event benefits Heroes Among Us, which grants scholarships for students. For more information, or to buy tickets, click here.
