UPDATE: Three people, including an officer with the Arvada Police Department (APD), are dead following a Monday (June 21) shooting in Olde Town Arvada.

According to The Denver Post, the shooting suspect and a third individual, referred to as a "Samaritan," were among the others killed. In a news conference, APD Deputy Chief Ed Brady refused to identify any of the deceased but said that both the shooter and the officer were male.

Brady did not disclose any other details about the shooting, although he noted that there was no longer any threat to the public.

Police officers later formed a procession to escort the officer's body to the Jefferson County Corner's Office.


ORIGINAL STORY: A shooting in Olde Town Arvada left one officer and two suspects down on Monday (June 21).

The Arvada Police Department (APD) tweeted about the incident shortly before 2 p.m. and secured the area near 57 and Old Wadsworth.

According to The Denver Post, APD Detective David Snelling confirmed that shots were fired, stating that one officer was down, along with two possible suspects.

Snelling did not elaborate on what he meant by "down." No further information is available at this time.
