Northern Colorado Law Enforcement Agencies Want Your Drugs

To prevent prescription drug abuse, theft, and to keep our wastewater system clear of prescription drugs, agencies across Colorado will be participating in the National Drug Take Back Day.

The day is Saturday, October 22nd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day is coordinated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, and no questions will be asked about how you came to possess the drugs being dropped off.

The goal of the day is to help prevent the misuse of prescription medication and to help lessen the adverse effects when medication is flushed into water sources or sent to the landfills.

According to the Windsor Police Department and DEA, items that cannot be taken back include needles and sharps, mercury (thermometers), oxygen containers, chemotherapy/radioactive substances, pressurized canisters or illicit drugs.
