Nosh food delivery will soon be serving Boulder residents.

The independently-run food delivery service will start there on Nov. 12. Nosh is still signing up Boulder restaurants. The business is looking to hire about 100 drivers with whom they keep a close, personal working relationship.

Restaurants in Boulder will get to test out Nosh for free — the City of Boulder is subsidizing the start of the service as a boost to the local restaurant industry with winter and another COVID-19 wave looming.

"We are in a period that is very worrisome for restaurants," said Gleidson Gouveia, Nosh co-founder. "Food delivery will be key to businesses keeping their doors open."

Nosh, started by a collection of Northern Colorado restaurant owners in early 2019, uses independent contractors to deliver food from restaurants of varying cuisines to Fort Collins, Loveland and Greeley — similar to how rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft operate.

Nosh currently partners with hundreds of restaurants and staffs about 300 drivers in the Fort Collins, Loveland and Greeley areas. During the initial COVID-19 lockdown, the company hired about 60 people from the restaurant industry as drivers to keep them employed.

During the pandemic, Nosh also began offering contactless delivery.

Unlike other national delivery services, Nosh only uses local restaurants with their consent. Restaurants have full control over their menu and determine delivery radius restrictions.

About a dozen Boulder restaurants have already purchased stake in the Nosh branch and will help oversee operations.
