New Surprising City is Colorado’s Fastest Growing
At one point, Colorado was probably the most sought after state for many millennials to move to.
In particular, places along the Front Range, like Denver, Fort Collins, and Boulder all saw a large uptick in transplants throughout the 2000s and especially the 2010s.
However, that trend seems to possibly be dying down a bit.
At the moment, the once prominent boomtown of Denver is now seeing a higher rate of move-outs than much of the country.
Multiple reasons, like the increased prices for housing along with surging crime rates have played a role.
Despite this, there’s still some cities that have become quite popular destinations to relocate to.
One of them is Greeley, which for a time was the state’s fastest growing city.
However, there’s a new city in Colorado that’s starting to become a bit of a boomtown as of late.
Windsor is Colorado’s Fastest Growing City
When it comes to places that are seeing some of the biggest signs of growth in all of Colorado, one place stands out; Windsor.
The Northern Colorado city has absolutely blown up in the past three years.
According to the Coloradoan, Windsor’s population in 2020 sat at 32,712. As of 2023, the number of people who call Windsor home has increased to 40,349. That’s nearly a jump of 8,000 people.
This means that Windsor has seen its population grow by 23.3% over this three year span.
Amongst cities that have over 20,000 people, that’s the 23rd fastest in the United States.
However, when it comes to places that have less than 20,000 people, three places in Fort Collins have it beat.
Berthoud has grown 28% in the last three years, Severance 41%, and finally Timnath’s population has exploded by 54%.
What’s the Fastest Growing City in America?
While Windsor’s growth over the past few years is nothing to scoff at, there’s other places across the country that have truly exploded in the same time frame.
The fastest growing city in the country over the past three years has been Celina, Texas. It has seen a truly insane population growth of 143.2%, which is absolutely absurd.
Another Texas city, Fulshear, is hot on its trail, and is close behind at 142.7%. That’s almost double the next closest of 76%, which belongs to Royse City, Texas.
Interestingly, the city with the fastest declining population in the country is also in Texas. Between 2020-2023, Big Spring, Texas, has seen its population dip by -14.8%.
