Need a Furry Friend? Colorado Dog Shelters are at Capacity

It's hard to describe the relationship between a human and a dog because dogs can fill so many voids, voids we didn't know we had. A new kind of love. A new kind of humor. A new kind of tolerance. Learning what it feels like to have something truly love you unconditionally. Companionship and loyalty. If you have ever loved a dog, you already know all of these things.

During the first year of the pandemic, it was hard to find an adoptable dog. They just weren't available. Things have changed. Right now across Colorado, there are hundreds of dogs that need a home. Colorado shelters are taking to social media to plead for help with adoptions and fostering.

Animal Friends Alliance here in Fort Collins posted their plea for help yesterday, as their dog shelter is at capacity. At last check, they had 28 dogs of all different sizes, colors, and ages tugging at my heartstrings.

Denver Dumb Friends League announced, "due to an unprecedented number of animals in our care, the Dumb Friends League will not be accepting any dogs or small animals from Wednesday, May 25th through Sunday, May 29th." That's not good for the strays and surrenders in the area. They had 121 adorable wet canine noses staring back at me on their website.

The Larimer Humane Society has 25 adoptable dogs on its website today.
