Popular Old Town Hot Spot Has Been Shut Down, Staff Laid Off
Seemingly out of nowhere, one of the coolest places to hang out in Old Town Fort Collins has been shuttered by its parent company. This is the third place within nearly 30 years to occupy the space.
One of the best things about this particular hot spot is the availability of "people watching." Sadly, the company had to pull the plug; hopefully, another great place to come in to take over the corner.
There's nothing better than a pretty day hanging out in Old Town Fort Collins, Colorado. The shops, the people, the scenery, the bars and the restaurants. They all add up to an enjoyable afternoon or evening. Now comes news that one of the coolest spots in Fort Collins has had to close.
It was in around 2014 that the brother of Elon Musk, Kimball Musk, brought his dining concept to 100 N. College in Old Town. I remember how Kimball forced a Loveland restaurant, The Next Door, to change its name because it was too close to the name of his place, The Kitchen Next Door. The Next Door in Loveland is now Door 222.
Then, The Kitchen Next Door changed its name to Next Door American Eatery. Then in 2019, they changed the concept once again and became ND streetBar. Kimball's eatery was the third business to occupy 100 N. College.
OTHER FORMER BUSINESSES OF 100 NORTH COLLEGE
STONE LION BOOKS
Stone Lion was a great bookstore that occupied 100 N. College for about 10 years, starting in 1982.
BEAU JO'S PIZZA
Beau Jo's, now at the corner of College and LaPorte, was at 100 N. College from 1993 to 2013.
The Denver Post reports that Kimball Musk stepped down from the management team that handles ND street Bar in late 2022. In early January of 2023, the current management team decided to "rebuild" ND steetBar, but it would mean closing two locations: Union Station and Old Town.
If you search ND steetBar in Google, you'll find the map shows them to be "temporarily closed." It would seem that "permanently" will be taking its place.
