As the world continues working to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, I chatted with Mayor Wade Troxell (over the phone, two points for social distancing) to see how the City of Fort Collins is doing its part.

He explained that the city is working heavily with the Larimer County Department of Public Health and Environment to keep residents safe.

Following in the footsteps of Governor Polis, Troxell is also closing many facilities and postponing/cancelling city events to help 'flatten the curve' of the virus.

In regards to individual health, he recommends heeding the advice of health officials: practice social distancing, clean your hands frequently, and stay home if you are sick.

Troxell also emphasized the importance of community, particularly in uncertain times.

"Don't lose the personal aspect...," he said. "Part of that personal aspect is helping those that might be vulnerable and knowing that they're okay or getting something they might need. We have to be intentional about our community...and helping each and every one."
