This has to be one of the craziest things we have heard all year long and that is saying a lot as 2020 has been a very unusual year. But we are finding out from 9 News, that there was a man arrested last night for attempting to blow up a vehicle right outside a Denver Police Station.

This news is very alarming as we continue to find out more, according to the Denver Police Department the man pulled over near to the west entrance of the District 6 station which is located at 1566 North Washington Street at approximately 5:13 p.m.

He exited his vehicle, which no one knew at the time had already been filled with fuel inside of it to help catch fire and explode. The man then fired a flare gun into the vehicle. He was not successful in setting the vehicle on fire and was arrested just minutes later on suspicion of reckless endangerment and attempted arson.

The suspect has been identified as 37-year-old Derick Joseph Smialek. The Denver Police Department did have their bomb squad respond to the vehicle just to make sure it was safe after the failed attempt at setting it on fire.

Smialek has been charged on multiple counts.

Let's hope this man gets the help he needs because to do something like this means you're not stable. And It makes me think of all the police officers who are putting their life on the line today to keep our communities safe. Let's hope no other attempt like this happens anytime soon. This could have hurt or killed dozens of people.
