A 28-year-old Greeley man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison following an incident in which he shot another man outside of a Greeley library in August 2019.

At his court appearance on October 29, Theodore Montiel pled guilty to Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, after being accused of shooting a man in the back of the neck in downtown Greeley on August 12. According to the Weld County District Attorney, one count of Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder in the First Degree and one count of Assault in the Second Degree was dismissed in exchange for the guilty plea.

Based on police reports, it's believed that the two men knew each other prior to the violent occurrence. The victim survived and no one else was injured during the exchange.
