A portion of Horsetooth Rock Trail will be closed for maintenance over the next two work weeks.

Larimer County Department of Natural Resources announced the section of the trail between Soderberg Trail and South Ridge Trail will be closed from Aug. 10-14 and Aug. 17-21.

The trail will be reopened temporarily this weekend before re-closing next week.

During the trail closure, hikers can still summit the iconic Fort Collins spot by using the South Ridge Trail detour.

Maintenance crews will:

  • Move large rocks
  • Fell trees
  • Build rock retaining walls
  • Build rock steps
  • Enhance water drainage

Horsetooth Mountain Open Space attracts about 224,000 visitors annually.
