A very limited amount of free tickets are available for a very special screening of 1977's classic, 'Star Wars' at Downtown Loveland's Rialto Theater.

I remember seeing 'Star Wars' at The Rialto when it came out. It would be great to see it again there, as they kick off a fundraiser for the theater.

Organizers of the fundraiser, including Backstage Rialto, are setting out to raise $25,000 by September 2021, for a new video wall for the theater that reached its 100 year anniversary in 2020. If the 'Siver Screen ReImagined' fund does raise that $25,000, matching funds will take the total to $50,000.

The video wall will take the theater's video capabilities to the next level, after recently getting an upgrade in the sound system. This is exactly what The Rialto needs, in my opinion, to help get folks to come 'back to the movies.'

Of course, the kick-off with 'Star Wars' is happening on May 4, 2021, known as 'May the 4th Be With You Day,' to any local nerd such as myself. The movie is such a gem, just like The Rialto.

I think the very first movie I recall seeing there was a 'Herbie Rides Again' when I was six. Fouryears later, me and my childhood friends would be waiting in line for the movie of the year in 1977, which became the beginning of a dynasty.

I'm so ready to see this show, but I'd better hurry as free tickets are going faster than Han Solo doing the Kessel Run.

Tuesday, May 4, 2021, a 6 p.m.

You can get free tickets in person (while they last) at The Rialto box office which is open from Noon until 5 p p.m. Tuesday-Friday, or by calling 970-962-2120.
