The Loveland Public Library is celebrating Black History month by presenting films based on the African American experience to the public.

The showings are at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday during the month of February at the downtown MetroLux Theater.

Each one will be preceded by a short talk with local experts.

Boyz n the Hood, starting Cuba Gooding Jr. and Ice Cube, will kick off the series on February 4.

Metro State University's Devon Wright will speak about the culture of Hip Hop before the film, and be available for a question and answer session afterwards.

Amazing Grace: A Documentary, focused on Aretha Franklin and the choir of New Bethel Baptist Church, will show on February 11.

Soul and blues singer Hazel Miller will speak before the film about soul's roll in African American culture.

Soul Food, starring Vanessa Williams, will air at the theater on February 18. Adrian Miller, a Soul Food scholar, will discuss the history of African American food before the film.

Remember the Titans, starring Denzel Washington, will conclude the series on February 25. Football players from Colorado State University will be in attendance to talk about their own experiences in sports.

Everyone is welcome, and the films are free...if you have a library card. If you don't, cards will be available at the theater.
