The Loveland Police Department released bodycam footage of a recent arrest that took place, in which a suspect was non-compliant with officers.

In a time where police departments across the country are facing scrutiny for use of force and how they handle suspects, the video is stirring up mixed emotions from locals — both from those who agree that the appropriate actions were carried out given the situation, and also from those who believe too much force was used.

According to the Loveland PD, on Monday, July 13, officers responded to a reports of a male causing a disturbance inside and outside of a Target store. He was also refusing to leave the property.

When officers arrived on scene, they attempted to verbally contact the suspect in the parking lot. The officer repeatedly told the suspect not to "walk up on him," but the male was non-compliant. Thus, the officer began placing the male in handcuffs.

The suspect resisted the officer and back-up enforcement was called to help with placing him in cuffs. Officers also requested medical assistance and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene to provide medical aid.

The video shows the body worn camera footage of the original responding officer, with privacy redactions consistent with the Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act.

Criminal charges are being filed against the male involved in this incident.
