In a recent interview with Australia's Triple J radio, producer Joel Little -- who has both produced and contributed to Lorde's music -- mentioned that the singer would be returning to the studio to work on her sophomore album as early as next month. You can listen to the news-breaking interview in the audio player below.

The New Zealand pop icon's much anticipated sophomore album, according to Little, doesn't really have more than a loose direction so far. In the interview with Triple J's Richard Kingsmill, he stated, "We're just going to start writing some songs ... I think we're just going to start writing and when it starts to feel right, we'll know that it's right. It's pretty simple really."

And how soon will that be? "Really soon. Like within the next month or so we'll be in the studio," Little said.

Little produced all of Lorde's 2013 album Pure Heroine, which sold millions of copies worldwide and was heralded at the Grammys and Billboard Music Awards. Of course, that disc included her smash hit, "Royals," co-written by Little, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for nine weeks.
