Like Everything Else, Great American Beer Festival 2020 Moves Online

This annual event in Denver draws thousands and thousands of attendees to the Mile High from all over the country every September, but given the current circumstances barring both large gatherings and travel (and that the Colorado Convention Center is a makeshift COVID-19 emergency center, should hospitals ever overflow) —  it's just not going to happen in 2020. 

'While we are disappointed to not be gathering in Denver this fall for the craft beer community’s annual big tent event, the health and safety of our attendees, brewers, volunteers, judges, and employees is and always has been our top priority,' Bob Pease, president and CEO of the Brewers Association said in a press release on May 20. 'As the world is still greatly affected by the spread of COVID-19 and will continue to be affected for the foreseeable future, we must stay true to our priorities and pursue other ways to host GABF.'

Cheers! Just, not irl. Instead, the Great American Beer Festival is moving online for October 16 and 17... But how, exactly, do you have a beer festival online?

Great American Beer Festival organizers say they're still figuring that out, but their recent press release hints at the opportunity to have a virtual beer-tasting experience, conversations with brewers and at-home food pairing deliveries. And, there will still be an awards ceremony.

As for 2020 tee shirts, well, we just hope that Kyle Clark is able to get one.
