Larimer County Acquires Red Mountain Open Space
Larimer County has officially acquired a 1,091-acre ranch for $3.5 million dollars.
The County announced this on Wednesday as a part of their efforts to stitch together open lands in the foothills with the help of private landowners, according to CBS4.
The land was purchased thanks to the county's Help Preserve Open Spaces sales tax, the City of Fort Collins’ Open Space Yes sales tax, Great Outdoors Colorado, and the Friends of Larimer County Parks and Open Lands.
The County has purchased this land to preserve it, which contains one of the largest mountain mahogany shrubland communities. The land is described as a "much needed respite from urban life" and a critical wildlife habitat.
