Kindergartner Suspended after Squirt Gun Threat

If you're like me, you're sick and tired of hearing about guns and gun control in general. I'm not going to get into the issue itself, but I feel it's relevant after reading this story. A 5 year-old girl was suspended from her elementary school after "threatening" another student with a bubble gun.

Now I understand that schools are very intolerant of any sort of projectiles on campus, toy or not. That's fine and dandy. This story however takes it way over the top. The school described the situation as a "terrorist threat." Yes, a 5 year old terrorist with a Hello Kitty bubble gun... Someone call in the SWAT teams, we've got a situation!

Are things really this out of control in our country? Please understand, this isn't just a 2 day slap on the wrist! Let me break this down a little further. During a 10 day suspension,  the school has ordered the parents to get their daughter a psychological evaluation. As you can imagine the girl's parents are doing everything in their power to get her out of this insane institution. However, other schools want nothing to do with the little girl as this is now on her record.

This is all thanks to the Sandy Hook massacre and the schools cracking down on the wrong people. Words can't express how upset I get with our educational system when I hear stories like this. The rest of this young person's education may be ruined just because she wanted to shoot some bubbles with her friends. The public school system should be ashamed for letting something like this happen.
