Honestly I could give two you-know-what's about pro hockey these days. If I was lucky, I could probably name you 5 players in the entire National Hokey League. Who knows if they will even have a season for the second time in the last ten years. But there was a time when hockey was at the top of my watch list, a time when guys like Joe Sakic wore the big Avalanche "A" on their sweater. Now Sakic is forever enshrined in Toronto as a Hockey Hall of Famer.

The former Colorado Avalanche Captain was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame last night (November 12th) in Toronto. He played 21 years in the NHL, 13 of those years with the Avalanche.

Sakic said "I owe so many people who helped me get here. I was so proud to wear the Avalanche jersey, and so happy to still be a part of the organization, and hopefully we can bring another Stanley Cup to Denver."

Sakic also took time to thank his parents and talk about the NHL's current strike during his induction speech.

Sakic ended his career as the ninth-leading scorer in NHL history, he won 2 Stanley Cups and was a 13 time all star.

Mats Sundin,  Adam Oates and Pavel Bure were also inducted into this years Hall of Fame class.
