Supporting the arts, especially on a local level, is something that makes a huge difference and helps local artists immensely. Whether the support comes from watching local bands play shows, attending art exhibits, or dropping a little money into an independent filmmaker's GoFundMe, anything helps.

While there are a number of great short film festivals that take place in Colorado throughout the year, local filmmakers seldom have a significant amount of funding but somehow, their works are completed and shown to the public.

In Colorado Springs, there is a group by the name of Grown Up Costume Party that is known for creating these types of local, independent films, and their latest was greatly financed by supporters via a grassroots funding campaign.

Grown Up Costume Party is a group of creative people who have a love for film. Their latest effort, a film called Duck Rabbit, was recently shown for the first time after being largely funded by local donors.

The group's GoFundMe, which is still active, received roughly three-quarters of the initially set goal, but the film is finished and the group is now hoping to have it shown in a variety of film festivals across the state and, hopefully, beyond.
