Colorado is home to numerous places that are widely known to be haunted. For example, paranormal activity at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park served as the inspiration for Stephen King's 'The Shining,' Central City Cemetery is said to be eerily haunted as well, and there are even stories of malevolent spirits at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

The inn was first opened in 1909 and served as a destination for visitors to Mount Elbert, but rumor has it that the inn also attracted a more nefarious group.

Tales of Nazis frequenting the inn prior to the United States' involvement in World War II are just some of the troubling stories that serve as lore for the hotel.

There is also the tale of Carl, a stablehand who allegedly murdered his lover at the time, an employee named Jessica. According to legend, Carl committed suicide immediately following the murder, and both spirits are said to haunt the property.

In addition, a boy who was said to have been the son of the inn's owners at the time reportedly passed away from influenza at the hotel, allegedly leaving his spirit to haunt the grounds as well.

While the Brook Forest Inn is far less well-known than the Stanley Hotel or even the also haunted Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs, it seems that it certainly belongs in the same category.
