Buzz is building for a grand new vision for the Colorado Eagles and Greeley, Colorado, community announced this summer.

Central to the proposed Greeley Westside Project is a new arena, hotel and waterpark.

“We are relocating the center of gravity of Northern Colorado, the center of gravity of excitement, the center of gravity of entertainment,” developer Martin Lind told the Greeley City Council on Oct. 1. “Effectively, we will be moving the front door to Rocky Mountain National Park 5 miles east from where everyone thought it was going to be. Everyone was sure it was I-25 and 34.”

What is the Colorado Eagles and Greeley Westside Project plan?

Initial development would include:

  • Public and meeting spaces.

  • Hotel.
  • A transit center.

What’s next for the Colorado Eagles’ Greeley plan?

Lind’s The Water Valley Company is developing the conceptual plan and will submit it to Greeley staff by the end of October. Lind also owns the Colorado Eagles hockey team.

The staff reported at the Oct. 1 city council meeting that they will review the plan and present the final proposal to the Greeley City Council in January.

Concurrently, a city-retained PR agency and a Water Valley consultant will gather public feedback. The graphic below shows who they plan to engage, starting with Greeley residents and also including the hockey, business and tourism/entertainment communities.

In addition to the plans, the city and Water Valley need to address the public-private partnership agreement, tax districts and other public financing of the project, among many other steps.

Those timelines have not yet been outlined.

Proposed Greeley West Side Project and Eagles Hockey Arena Vision

The city of Greeley and Water Valley Company are exploring a public-private partnership to develop a community in west Greeley that would include an arena that would house the Colorado Eagles at the center of an entertainment and transportation hub.

The phased development could ultimately grow to 5,000 acres, one of Northern Colorado's largest developments. Below are some pictures. Here's the whole story.
