With 2024 starting to wrap up, it still feels like we're saying goodbye to more places than we are welcoming to our community. And while it's a bummer to see national chain stores or restaurants close, seeing smaller locally-owned restaurants have to shut down is heartbreaking.

During and following the pandemic, many locally-owned businesses around Colorado found different and creative ways to power through the rebound, but unfortunately, some just can't get back on track to doing business pre-2020.

While most businesses that lock up won't come right and say that things changed for the worse after 2020, the proof as they say, is in the pudding, and we're saying goodbye to another incredible local favorite after nearly three decades.

If you're a Colorado native, or for sure a Northern Colorado native, you've at least heard of the locally famous Kenny's Steak House in Greeley. Located on the corner of 10th St and 35th Ave.,

Named after Kenny Monfort, who was a pioneer in the Colorado Cattle industry, Kenny's Steak House (FKA Stampede Steak Ranch) opened in 1995 and was an extremely popular place for people all over Colorado to come and dine.

Yes, the steaks and food are always fantastic, but the service, and the way Kenny's was run, is what truly made it special. It wasn't just another big chain steak house where you were just another customer at a table that needed to be rushed in and out,

Kenny's staff knew their regulars, and Matt and Leona Larson made sure their staff always made you feel special. The Larson family posted the news today (9/30/24) on Kenny's Facebook page saying...

It is with a mix of gratitude and sadness that we announce the closing of Kenny’s Steak House on October 12th, 2024. For almost 30 years, we’ve had the privilege of being part of this incredible community, serving up more than just steaks – we’ve served memories, laughter, and moments shared with those you care about most.

To us locals, it's more than just losing another Steak House, it's like losing a member of the family. Thank you, Matt, Leona, and family, for nearly three decades of being not just a part of our community, but there for our community. Go dine one last time at Kenny's before its final goodbye on October 12th.
