You can almost feel it in the Colorado air. Hockey season nears.

The days might still be reaching roasting temperatures, but the cooler evenings make us start yearning for all the autumn fun — football, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, leaf-looking drives, #PSL and all things pumpkin (well, if pumpkin spice lattes are your thing). For us, it means Colorado Eagles hockey.

Recently, the team released its 2024-25 season promotional calendar. These are more than just games. They are full-on, not-to-miss experiences and community events.

The Colorado Eagles fill October through April with special nights that include free giveaways and community celebrations. You can get the complete Colorado Eagles Promotional schedule now. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13.

Here are our favorite Colorado Eagles nights to look forward to.

Military Appreciation Night on Tuesday, Nov. 5

We look forward to this event every year, which honors all of our veterans and active-duty military men and women. The flag ceremony, 21-gun salute, military ops "demos," and salutes to military personnel in attendance make for an exciting and moving night. Each year, the team wears a special one-time, military-themed jersey that's also available for sale to the public while supplies last.

Here's last year's promo video for the 2023 military appreciation night.

Teddy Bear Toss Night on Saturday, Dec. 14

Every year, we at Townsquare Media and K99 (Northern Colorado's New Country 99.1 FM), and Pedersen Toyota partner with the Colorado Eagles to gather about 10,000 bears for local charities. How does it work? Attendees bring new teddy bears to donate after the first Eagles goal of the game. Once our home team scores, the crowd lets the bears fly on the ice in a mega celebration for the team and to think of kids needing a little extra love during the holidays and throughout the year. If you've never seen thousands upon thousands of stuffed animals in one place, you'll want to come out and participate.

Fireworks Night on Sunday, Jan. 19

Fireworks in January? Yes, thanks to the Colorado Eagles. Win or lose, attendees and everyone near the Larimer County Ranch get a show in the cool night sky. Fireworks begin 15 minutes after the game east of the main entrance.

RETRO '80s and '90s Night on Friday, Feb. 28

You know us at Townsquare Media. How can we not love a party that celebrates the '80s and '90s? After all, RETRO is the name of one of our radio stations — RETRO 102.5, the '70s, '80s and more.

This year's RETRO night will include awesome fun from those eras. There will also be a bucket hat giveaway.

The Eagles won on '80s night last year, but we were all winners from the fun between periods and off the ice. Costumes are not mandatory but make the retro night even more fun.

Pot of Gold Night on Saturday, March 22

The annual night blends a little luck of the Irish for a team win with the love of Northern Colorado for a family in need. The Eagles launched the charity night in 2012 and have since raised more than $600,000 for families facing financial hardship because of a child's medical condition.

Eagles fans can bid on specially designed St. Patrick's Day jerseys worn by Eagles players during the game. All money raised goes to a recipient identified closer to the event. Additional jerseys are made and sold to support the cause.

To add fun for all, the arena will give away beer steins to the first fans through the doors. The evening's entertainment has included Irish step dancing and musical performances, too.

How much fun are these special Colorado Eagles games?

This clip of last year's event highlights shows just how much fun the teddy bear toss, RETRO night and military appreciation are.

The above are just five of our faves, but there are many more. Check out the complete schedule of Colorado Eagles fun and freebies.

Proposed Greeley West Side Project and Eagles Hockey Arena Vision

The city of Greeley and Water Valley Company are exploring a public-private partnership to develop a community in West Greeley that would include an arena that would house the Colorado Eagles at the center of an entertainment and transportation hub.

The phased development could ultimately grow to 5,000 acres, one of Northern Colorado's largest developments. Below are some pictures. Here's the whole story.
