If you're searching for someplace new to explore in Colorado, head to the town of Elizabeth for a fun, laid-back day. The agricultural community has been in existence since the late 1800s and is located approximately 45 miles southeast of Denver.

Shopping

Elizabeth has some great places to shop! A majority of the retail stores are conveniently located in the quaint downtown along Main Street, which makes it easy to walk from one place to the next. One can't-miss spot is The Carriage Shoppes, at 392 Main Street. The inside of this charming 5,000-square-foot building offers a variety of products for sale, ranging from food items to home decor, pet treats, and apparel. The former livery stable is also used to host elegant afternoon "high tea" events.

Another shop to be sure to stop into is The Nest at the 1897 House. The Nest has an eclectic mix of modern and antique items for sale and is a great place to buy gifts. Behind the store is a back building featuring even more amazing clothing, purses, jewelry, and home decor available for purchase.

If you're looking for a custom cowboy hat, then keep walking up the street to Powder River Hat Company. They will create an authentic, high-quality cowboy hat that fits perfectly to your head.

The Prickly Pear and Randy's Antiques and Art are two places in Elizabeth where shoppers can find amazing vintage pieces at very affordable prices. Need a little afternoon pick-me-up? There's a coffee shop inside The Prickly Pear too.

Walk down Main Street and the surrounding blocks to take in the town's history and character that has remained intact after more than 140 years.

Drinking and Dining

The historic Huber-Carlson Building at 239 S. Main Street dates back to 1890 but has since been transformed into a hoppin' microbrewery. Elizabeth Brewing Company offers a wide selection of craft beers in a casual, laid-back environment. Their large patio is dog-friendly, and perfect for watching the town's horse-drawn carriages stroll by. While visiting EBC, patrons can get food delivered from two nearby restaurants: Catalina's Diner and Jac's. You can also go to both of these establishments to eat on-site.

Outside of downtown, the Full Moon Saloon is a fantastic local joint to grab a drink or bite to eat. They also have live music, karaoke nights, and dancing.

More Fun

The Elizabeth Stampede Rodeo is an annual event that draws hundreds of people to the small Colorado town. The highly-anticipated summer event includes four exciting rodeos, plus a concert featuring popular country musicians.

The friendly and welcoming community also hosts plenty of other fun-filled events, like summer block parties and farmers' markets.
