According to the World Health Organization, 'there is no evidence that companion animals or pets such as cats and dogs have been infected or could spread the virus that causes COVID-19.'

However, when it comes to COVID-19 and your pets, Larimer Humane Society encourages you to keep animals safe by being prepared to have your pet taken care of, should you become sick with COVID-19.

'With the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 on the rise in Colorado, it is important for Larimer County residents to include their pets in preparedness plans,' Larimer Humane Society said.

Larimer Humane Society's preparedness plan includes identifying a trusted caretaker or boarding facility for your pet, if you become ill or hospitalized, having extra pet supplies on hand so you do not have to go out for them, keeping your pet's vaccines up to date with all administering instructions available, and making sure your pet is licensed.
