Many Coloradoans may have to pay thousands of dollars for downloading movies illegally.

Voltage Pictures has 16 pending lawsuits across Colorado over the film "Dallas Buyer's Club". Each lawsuit names several defendants, each accused (by Voltage Pictures) of copyright infringement.

One Longmont man is being asked to pay $150,000! Whoa. And, according to the article I read on 9newsmany more movie companies are filing lawsuits in Colorado. While most of these kinds of lawsuits settle out of court, defendants still usually end up paying thousands!

Dude. I'm glad I've never downloaded songs or movies illegally. I wish I could say that this is because I think it's wrong to do so. Which, of course, I do. But really, it's probably just been because I've lacked the time and technical know-how. Phew!

Seriously though. Don't pirate movies and music, man. People are getting caught and paying big. Also, because it's wrong. Of course.
