The Human Bean hosted a School Supply Drive that ended August 15th and they want to say thank you to everyone that participated.

"Tuned In to NoCo" got to speak with The Human Bean Assistant Director of Operations, Krista Smith, who says this year's drive really showed the character of our community.

"Our customers are just so generous. Every year I think there is no way we are going to get more items than last year, and we always do. It was very successful and we really appreciate all of our customers who come and give to these drives — It's just so important to our community."

All of the school supplies collected go to the District 6 Teacher's Closet. Smith said, their Human Bean trucks were filled to the brim this year and she's so happy they were able to donate these supplies.

"Teacher's Closet is located in Greeley...They accept new supplies and materials for teachers within that district and the teachers can go to this warehouse and shop. They have notebooks, binders, pencils, classroom supplies, stuff for holidays and parties...really anything that a teacher from District 6 needs. They can go here any time of the year —  It's open year-round and they are always seeking donations."

Smith says teachers don't pay a dime for any items they select from the Teacher's Closet, which not only helps them but helps their students as well.

"I have family members and friends who are teachers and so many times you hear that they have to spend their own money, from their wages, to buy school supplies and stuff for their classrooms and that can be really hard. So, I think it's great to have a place where teachers don't have to dip into their pockets and they have this as a resource. Because we all know that if we have those supplies in our classrooms our students are going to thrive."

The Human Bean is no longer accepting donations for the Teacher's Closet. However, if you would still like to donate, you can at the Teacher's Closet at 2508 4th Ave. Greeley, Colorado 80631.

Along with the school supply drives, The Human Bean does monthly Thankful Thursdays that highlight a certain profession in the community, and anyone belonging to that profession gets a discounted drink on that day. To find out what they are highlighting you can check out their Facebook page.

The next fundraiser will be their Coffee for a Cure event October 21. This event gives 100 percent of all coffee sales to Banner and UC Health as they help support those battling cancer in our community.
