Whether you're one of those people who has their tree outside by 8 a.m. on December 26 or someone who leaves it up well into 2020, you can recycle your Christmas tree for free.

From December 26 to January 20, residents of Fort Collins can recycle their trees at six different drop-off locations:

  • Edora Park, 1420 E. Stuart St. in the tennis court parking lot
  • Rolland Moore Park, 2201 S. Shields St. in the southeast corner parking lot
  • City Streets Facility, 625 Ninth St. at the southwest corner of Vine and Lemay
  • Fossil Creek Park, 5821 S. Lemay Ave. (enter via Lemay)
  • Larimer County Landfill, 5887 S. Taft Hill Rd.
  • Wellington Recycling Drop-off at Town Garage on the corner of 6th and Grant

You must remove all lights, wires, hooks, ornaments, fake snow, and tinsel before dropping off your tree.

The recycled trees will be turned into mulch that will be used for Fort Collins landscaping projects.

This service will be made available to the public year-round for free at the Timberline Recycling Center and Gardens on Spring Creek.

After January 20, trees can still be recycled at the Timberline Recycling Center and other local locations for a fee.

If you have an artificial tree that is in good condition, you can call your local thrift store to donate it.
