Healthcare Workers in Denver Counter-Protest At the Capitol
This weekend, protesters of the stay-at-home order from Jared Polis stormed the capitol building in Denver, claiming that the order was infringing on their personal rights. Hundreds gathered without masks, wielding signs and waving flags.
Photojournalist Alyson McClaran captured a tense moment when a small group of Denver Healthcare workers counter-protested, a moment that has since gone viral:
The nurses calmly stood in a crosswalk in front of the protesters, and moved out of the way when the light changed color. However, their message was clear.
According to Denver7, the original protest "was organized by various groups, including Libertarian parties around the metro area and ReOpen Colorado, which claims to have started as a Facebook group of concerned citizens." The counter-protest consisted of two nurses in full gear and supporters from Denver. Here's a video of the scene:
