In a new interview with Q, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has spoken about his infamous on-stage outburst at 2012's iHeart Radio Festival.

Reflecting on the bizarre tantrum, he explained how "I thought it was more negative than it was. Now, I think it was one of the most punk rock moments of the last 10 years. I should have taken it as that instead of a nervous breakdown. I know it gets pretty dark for other people that were involved, like my wife and my kids, but as a piece of theater, it was pretty amazing."

In case you'd forgotten, it all kicked off at the iHeart Radio Festival in 2012 when Green Day was informed their set was to be cut short, which led to Armstrong notoriously erupt and declare "I’m not fucking Justin Bieber, you motherfuckers! You gotta be fucking joking, this is a fucking joke. I got one minute, one minute left. Oh now I got nothing left, now I got nothing left. Let me show you what one fucking minute fucking means!"

Charming.

Green Day has recently been promoting their new album, Father of All..., which is projected to achieve first week sales of 35,000-40,000. Their previous LP, Revolution Radio, came in closer to 95,000.

Armstrong and co. will join Fall Out Boy and Weezer on their worldwide 'Hella Mega Tour' throughout 2020.
