Police cited two men for arson regarding a July 22nd fire in Greeley, according to the Greeley Tribune.

45-year-old Anthony Arroyos and 28-year-old Christopher Nelson received citations for fourth-degree arson, which is a misdemeanor.

The fire occurred in the 400 block of 9th Street and was caused by burning trash that spread to a nearby garage.

The firefighters who responded to the scene that day faced dangerous conditions including multiple propane tank explosions, burned power lines, and a 60-foot high fireball. Not including the damaged power lines, the trash caused around $8,000 in damages.

An investigation revealed the burning trash spread to a discarded couch, which then ignited a garage and fence.

According to the fire department, burning trash and any other waste material is a violation of city code.
