Mall security recognized the attacker as a frequent visitor they knew only by the name “Damage.” According to the Greeley Tribune, police were able to find a Facebook profile under the name “Damage” and identified the owner of the profile as Darren Michael David Dean, 20.

Dean returned to the mall the on Feb. 23 - a day after the stabbing incident - and security called the police. Dean was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault, a Class 3 felony.

Darren Michael David Dean was out on parole in two Weld County cases and faces an additional charge for violating parole.

Court records state that, during an interview with police, Dean claimed to be a part of a Northside gang known as the “Assassins;" he also denied attacking the stabbing victim, stating he was there at the time of the incident but left as soon as someone else got into an altercation with the victim.

Dean is set for a disposition hearing at 3 p.m. on March 16 in Weld District Court.
