Lou Reed, Sex Pistols + More to Be Inducted Into 2015 Grammy Hall of Fame
On the heels of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announcing its 2015 class yesterday (Dec. 15), the Recording Academy has announced the new class of Grammy Hall of Fame inductees for next year as well.
Lou Reed, who will be included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist, will also be inducted into next year's Grammy Hall of Fame group for his 1972 track, 'Walk On the Wild Side.' Also included in the induction are Sex Pistols' album, 'Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols,' Leonard Cohen's 'Songs of Leonard Cohen,' Kraftwerk's 'Autobahn' and Bob Dylan's 'Blood On the Tracks' (among others).
The Grammy Hall of Fame will be welcoming a total of 27 honorees bringing the overall number of titles to 987. Recordings are chosen based on their "lasting qualitative or historical significance that are at least 25 years old," according to the Grammys' website.
"With recordings dating as early as 1909 through the late '80s, this year's Grammy Hall Of Fame entries not only represent a diverse collection of influential and historically significant recordings but also reflect the changing climate of music through the decades," president and CEO of the Recording Academy Neil Portnow said in a statement. "These memorable, inspiring and iconic recordings are proudly added to our growing catalog -- knowing that they have become a part of our musical, social, and cultural history."
The 57th Annual Grammy Awards will take place on Feb. 8, 2015, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will broadcast on CBS at 8PM ET.
