Governor Polis: Colorado Has Been Successful in Slowing COVID-19

Colorado Governor Jared Polis said in his Monday press conference that the state has been successful in slowing the number of COVID-19 cases by social distancing.

The growth rate for COVID-19 in Colorado has slowed to 1.4 percent in cases and growth rate of 0.1 percent of hospitalizations as of May 3, 2020.

Governor Polis is still urging social distancing of six feet and the use of masks when out in public and on the trails.

May 4 is the first day back to work for many Coloradans in offices and retail locations as businesses open back up with a 50 percent workforce after statewide closures. State of Colorado employees are currently telecommuting at a rate of 62 percent.

"We know Coloradans can't be asked to stay home indefinitely," Polis said. "We have just have to make sure we don't go back to life as it was in January and February."
