On Tuesday, September 22, Governor Jared Polis held a press conference to give updates on the COVID-19 pandemic in Colorado, and also made a big announcement about state employees.

Due to budget shortfalls for the state, Colorado has announced mandatory furlough days for those making over $50,000.

This thoughtful furlough plan helps address the state's budget shortfall while ensuring that our lower wage workers are not impacted and we can continue to deliver high quality critical services for Coloradans.

While he mentions it won't be easy, our state will come back "stronger than ever before." The furlough days range from one to four periods, and vary based on the amount of income a state employee receives.
