Meet the Future of the Colorado Rockies, Charlie Condon
As it stands right now, Colorado sports stands in a strange place.
We have two teams who are in absolute golden eras in the Nuggets and Avalanche, with each team winning a championship in the past two years.
On the other hand, both the Broncos and the Rockies are definitely not seeing the most success.
Despite looking better in the second half of last year, the Broncos are in a tough position after having to cut Russell Wilson.
They hope that their newest quarterback, Bo Nix, will be a much better fit.
The Rockies, on the other hand, are on a generational downswing.
However, the pieces may be in place for a new stud to take over in the purple and black.
Charlie Condon Taken 3rd Overall by the Colorado Rockies in 2024 MLB Draft
Charlie Condon may be one of the most impressive prospects in all of the MLB draft.
The 6-6 third baseman and outfielder may have had one of the most impressive seasons out of any college player.
In fact, it was cartoonishly good in some aspects.
This year, Condon led the NCAA in batting average (.433), homeruns (37), and slugging percentage (1.009).
For those who may not be aware, these numbers are absolutely phenomenal.
The Rockies May Have Gotten a Steal
Despite the Rockies picking so high in the draft, some sources said that Condon could have easily gone earlier.
The Cleveland Guardians had the first overall pick, and while some saw them taking Condon, they instead took second baseman Travis Bazzana.
The Reds took pitcher Chase Burns with the second pick.
Sources like CBS Sports actually gave Condon the edge when it came to the best player in the entire draft.
They see his incredible bat and strength as having some of the best upside in the entire draft, and they believe he will be able to improve at third base as well.
