The Larimer County Department of Natural Resources will honor the life of fallen ranger Brendan Unitt with a procession of emergency service vehicles on Friday (August 28).

The procession will begin at 12:45 p.m. at Timberline Road and Drake Road in Fort Collins, before heading east on Ziegler Road towards Harmony Road.

The vehicles will then continue east on Harmony Road to I-25, before stopping at County Line Road (Weld County Road 13).

The department will then head south for a private family service. The public is encouraged to view the procession and pay their respects from a safe distance.

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) discovered Unitt's body in Horsetooth Reservoir on the early morning of August 21.

The agency believes that an unexpected heavy wind gust caused Unitt to become separated from his boat.

In a video statement about the incident, Unitt's fellow rangers described him as a selfless public servant and a member of the "ranger family."

Donations can be made to Unitt's family at P.O. Box 272253, Fort Collins, Colorado, 80527.

Officials are also planning a livestream of his memorial service. Updates about the service will be posted here as they become available.
